GERMAN DEL PLAYOFFS have arrived!

It`s that of year already when the Deutsche Eishockey Liga starts up to crown the Champions of Germany. Adler Mannheim and Koln(Cologne) Haie finished in 1st and 2nd respectively in the league standings. It`s also a bit of a shock that both side only have one player representing them in the Top 20 Points scorers overall, But also means that they spreaded the points out showing they ain`t just a 1 man team they are both good sides and contribute all over the ice.  Koln also had the best goaltender in the league with Danny aus den Birken ranked number 1 with a save percentage of 92.9 %.

The playoffs get started this Wednesday night as the First Round of the 2013 Playoffs starts with the Augsburger Panther playing host to the Straubing Tigers and in the other first round match up it`s the Thomas Sabo Ice Tigers of Nuremberg facing off against the Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg.  Both matches are played in a best of -3- series before winners advance.  So the winner of the Augsburger/Straubing series will face the challenge of Koln Haie in the Quarter Finals.

And winners of the other First Round clash will face Adler Mannheim, The other Quarter Final match ups sent in stone are Krefeld Penguine v ERC Ingolstadt and the reigning champions Eisbaren Berlin will face the Hamburg Freezers in their defence of the their championship.
