British Number One Andy Murray etched his name into Wimbledon final folklore and British Sporting History too, as the Scottish ace ended an unwanted record in British tennis, as he become Wimbledon Champion defeating the World Number 1 Serbian star Novak Djokovic in Straight sets.
Murray avenged his loss from last year`s Wimbledon Final heartbreak  as he was edged out by Roger Federer last time out on Centre Court.

Both players had come through tough semi finals matches prior to this final, with Murray being took to 4 sets by Polish player Jerzy Janowicz in his semi final. Murray had started off poorly and dropped his first set of the whole tournament going down 7-6 in a tiebreaker, before a second set saw Murray 2-4 down and launch a comeback and he never looked back after he took the next 2 sets.
That then led Janowicz to complain about it being too dark to see and led the tournament officials to pander to his demands and so we had a lengthy delay while the roof was being closed much to Murray`s anger.
After they came back from the break, Murray stormed to victory to book his place in his second consecutive Wimbledon final.

For Novak Djokovic, he was taken all the way by Argentina`s Juan Del Potro in a 5 Set Thriller, as they played out a Classic semi final meeting.

The match swung back and forth so much in the 4 hours and 43 minute of the contest, that it was shame someone had to miss out, as this match was worthy of a final. But it was "the Joker" that proved to have too much quality for Del Potro and he won the deciding set to see him through to another Final.

For the final it`s self , both men played there part in an enthralling encounter. As it took Andy Murray 4 Championship points to finally clinch his second Grand Slam title in a year, to go along with the US Open title he won last September, and coincidently had beaten Djokovic in the final to win the title too.
Murray was 3-0 up in the first set after just 20 minutes of play. The World number 3 had the upper hand in the contest early on as Djokovic looked very shaky and was struggling to deal with Murray who was really taking it to Novak early on.

Murray took the Opening set 6-4 and had the Momentum massively in his favour,  In the second set Djokovic started to come into the contest, as a couple of spectacular rallies that included a 30 and 28 strokes, went in favor to the Serbian. The Second set looked to be over, as Djokovic opened up a 4-1 lead in the second set, as he was coming forward to the net and stopping Murray, with the Scottish player failing to contain his rivals play.
Murray then shown his mental toughness as he battled back from 4 games to 1 down to 4-3 down. Murray had broke Novak`s serve and now had the opportunity to even the games up in the second set.

Murray then held his serve as he drew level at 4-4 to gain some momentum and looked like he could go on to take the set now with the boost of coming back from 3 games down.
In the 9th game Novak restored his lead to go 5-4 in front, but back came Murray as he responded in the next game to level it at 5-5.
Djokovic was seemingly doubting himself as he started to try and take the sting out of the game, as he adopted a slower tempo to his game in the 11th game.
Despite having two break points in the game, Djokovic hit a overhead shot to make it 30-40, But he couldn`t stop Murray breaking his serve and so Murray went ahead 6-5 in the set.
In the 12th game Murray went 30-0 before, Murray finished him off with an Ace taking the set 7-5 set and go 2-0 sets up.

In the third set, Murray had broken Novak early on and had him all over the place, as he had made 31 unforced errors in the match at that this point in time.
Murray took the 2nd game as well and was now 4 games away from the title, however Djokovic had other ideas, as the Serbian came back equalling it up at 2 games a piece.
Djokovic then returned the favor on Murray this time round, as now he came back to brake his opponent and go 4-2 up in the set.
Murray in retaliation broke Novak`s serve and held his serve to make it 4-4 and this was nicely poised now, with both players trying to out do the other and get any type of advantage they could.

Murray was up for it more so now, as he got a type of second wind and during an epic rally, Djovokic thought he had out thought Murray with a couple of good placed shots, only for Murray to mount a couple of out of this world winners as he smashed them past the World Number 1 for a 5-4 lead.
Andy Murray now was serving for the match and stood on the brink of history as he was close to winning the championship. Murray took a 40-0 lead and had Three MATCH POINTS.
Novak Djokovic had battled back as he got it to deuce and the Expectant crowd chewed their nails as Djokovic had 3 Break points during the whole 10th game to deny Murray the victory the whole crowd and Nation wanted.

Murray played a few fantastic shots to get it back to Championship point, this time Djokovic smashed the ball into the net and Centre Court erupted with noise and even those on "HENMAN HILL" too. As Andy Murray had ended the wait of a British MALE champion for the first time in 77 years, since Fred Perry won it last in 1936.

Murrray climbed to the box to hug and celebrate with his girlfriend and his whole team, and just as he went to head back to court. His team told him he missed out one person in the celebrations & was the most important influence in his career..HIS MUM!
So Murray headed back and grew a bigger cheer when he embraced his mother in the coached box as Murray celebrated winning in straight sets taking the Wimbledon title 6-4 7-5 6-4.
