Seattle SEAHAWKS "GELD" the Broncos in Superbowl victory!!!

SUPERBOWL XLVII

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS   43

DENVER BRONCOS     8

In the early hours of Monday morning we witnessed the Seattle Seahawks become Superbowl champions for the first time in their franchises history in New York, as the Seahawks not for the first time this year, thrashed the Denver Broncos at Met-Life Stadium 43-8. Both sides met in Seattle during pre-season and saw on that occasion, the Seahawks batter the Denver Broncos 40-10 at CenturyLink Field in Seattle.

The game was billed as the Best Offense v the Best Defense in the National Football League, however there was only one side in the contest that possessed both defensive skills and offensive qualities in the contest and they all belonged to the NFC Champions the Seattle Seahawks.
Superbowl XLVIII (48) saw the first ever Cold-Weather game to be played in Superbowl history, with the last outdoor game to be played on artificial turf came way back at Superbowl X at Miami`s Orange Bowl in 1976 stadium.

The Legendary Joe Namath did the coin toss for the big game was made by “Broadway Joe” and saw Denver having the ball first in the game.
But it started off the way it would go for the rest of the night for the men from the Mile High City and one that would border on embarrassing and humiliation for Peyton Manning and his Denver Broncos.
Denver on their opening play in the Superbowl, found themselves in deep trouble on the first play of the drive. When a mis-communication from his team mate Manny Ramirez, saw him snap the ball backing intended for Peyton Manning, saw the Quarterback walk to the line and at that point saw the ball fly past him and head into the endzone for Broncos Knowshon Moreno, having to ground the ball in his own end and as result give up a Safety after 12 seconds of play, giving Seattle an unbelievable 2-0 start in the game.

Seattle increased their early lead with a field goal, as Steven Hauschka drilled his 31 yard kick through the posts for a 5-0 score line that had saw Percy Harvin gain 30 yards for his team, in which got his side up towards the Broncos end in the first place.

Denver was being physically battered by the Seahawks defense as had their talons in the opponents. The Broncos had no clue how to deal the constant wave of pressure by Seattle in their opening drives.
Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson then threw a 37 yard pass to Doug Baldwin who caught it and managed to run to the 6 yard line before being brought down and gave the NFC champs, good field position. Denver Broncos defense managed to hold firm in the 4 plays they rivals had and Hauschka came back on to kick another field goal to make it 8-0.

On the next Broncos set of possession, Peyton Manning threw an interception on a 3rd & 4, which saw Kam Chancellor make the catch and seen the Seahawks dominate the game and have full control as we started the Second Quarter.
Tony Carter of the Broncos was then penalised for a Pass Interference, when he called for shoving Golden Tate in the Denver endzone as he stopped Tate from grabbing the ball and so seen Seattle move up to the 1 yard line on a 1st & Goal.
Couple of plays later “Beast Mode” was switched on, when Marshawn Lynch crashed over in the endzone to see them take 15-0 lead with the added point and the game was getting took out of AFC Champions reach already.

Manning and his Denver team mates needed to find their mojo as soon as possible, as in the opening 17 minutes of play the Seattle Seahawks had pressurised and out muscled their opponents with gusto and with ease. The Broncos had never been this far down in a game besides Week 7, when they were 19-0 down to the Indianapolis Colts and went on to lose 39-33.
They managed to get their offense firing for a bit as they secured a first down their opening one of the game, with Manning trying to get his side back in the contest. Manning tried to best to get his team to eat into the Seahawks 15-0 lead as they move up the field slowly towards the Seattle 35 yard line.

Manning then threw another Interception on a 3rd & 13 as his throw was deflected up into the air towards Malcolm Smith, who ran it back to the endzone for 69 yards score and saw the Seahawks go 22-0 up with 3:21 left in the 2nd Quarter and this was getting to be an embarrassing state of affairs for the Broncos now.

Seattle thought they had managed to recover a fumbled kick off return, only to see the decision overturned as Trindon Holliday`s knee had already come down to the ground, prior to losing the ball.  Denver on that drive tried to run a play on 4th down, but they couldn`t make anything of it and saw the Seahawks play out the clock to half time with Seattle taking a 22 point lead into the half and one that even they could hardly believe they had.

Before the second half started, everyone in the media during the Halftime break stated that Denver needed to show their intentions from the opening kick and show that they were up for the challenge to get back in the ball game that they weren`t going to be run over.

Well.. from the opening play of the 3rd Quarter, Broncos kicker Matt Prater saw his kick off returned by Percy Harvin for a 87 yards touchdown for the Seattle Seahawks. What made it worse was Harvin had let the ball bounce to the Seattle 10 yard line, before picking up and then running through the Broncos defense for huge kickoff return to make it 29-0.

It was also a strange coincidence, that both opening points in the First and Second half for the NFC champions were clocked at 12 seconds exactly.

Peyton Manning was sat on the sidelines shaking his head in disbelief at what was happening on the field with his side and i`m sure the collective fans of both sides was too, but obviously for different reasons.
Both teams then traded punts to each other, till a Broncos drive saw Manning throw to Demaryius Thomas and as he tried to run to the outside Byron Maxwell then knocked the ball loose from the Wide Receiver for the 3rd turnover in the game by Denver. The following drive by the Seahawks resulted in a fourth Touchdown for them, which coincidently was the amount of players Jermaine Kearse bounced off with two spin moves to see him cross the endzone for the score. It has to be said the defending was terrible and laughable at best, with the Broncos defense equal to Custer`s last stand.

Peyton Manning eventually managed to help the Broncos get points on the board, when he threw to Demaryius Thomas for a Touchdown just before the end of the 3rd quarter and then threw a two point conversion to Wes Welker who ran it in from short, to make the score 36-8 heading into the final Quarter of the game.

Matt Prater then attempted an Onside kick for Denver, but saw his kick bounce far too high after hitting the ground and was recovered by Zach Miller of the Seahawks on his own 48 yard line.

Seattle drove 52 yard up field, before Doug Baldwin evaded yet more soft tackling by the Broncos Secondary, which saw the Seahawks soaring to their maiden Superbowl victory with the score 43-8 to Seattle and their opponents was in real humiliation territory now, with a worldwide audience watching this annihilation of the two time Superbowl Champions.
The mission for the Denver Broncos players now was to avoid the biggest loss in Superbowl history, that was recorded ironically by the Broncos themselves, way back at Superbowl XXIV, where the San Francisco 49ers won 55-10 in the most one sided game before this one.

Richard Sherman was driven to the locker on a medical scooter to a loud cheer from the travelling Seattle fans that had made the long journey to New Jersey and who have been nicknamed the "12th Man" due to the noise the fans make during the game, as they caused a mini earthquake earlier in the year from the noise.
With Denver on a 4th & 11 and 3:52 left to run in the game, Peyton Manning had the ball knocked from his hand by Chris Clemons, as he was sacked for the only time in the game and seen the Seahawks unrelenting play continue.

The coach Pete Carroll got the traditional soaking of the coach to kick start the party for the City of Seattle and the First ever Superbowl victory for the City of Seattle, after their last failed effort 8 years ago in Detroit. Their return to the big game this time resulted in a massive win for the Seahawks and also established their young Quarterback Russell Wilson as a big game player too, posting number of 206 yards and 2 touchdowns to his name.

The award for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the game went deservedly to a defensive player as that is what brought them all this way to the Superbowl glory and Linebacker Malcolm Smith was given that accolade. Smith made 9 tackles and one Interception which he turned into a touchdown and went away with a brand new shiny vehicle for his troubles.
While Seattle rejoices and revels in the celebrations of ‘World Champions’, the flip side saw John Fox once again come up short as for the third time in his coaching career he has seen his side lose out in a Superbowl Championship game.
Plus it also means that a lot of thinking will now take place between now and August on his roster as after this result, some may be deemed surplus to requirements and may even be the final time we see Peyton Manning on a Football field again!
